Galneryus' latest album, A Cry from the Sky Above, is a mixed bag. While it showcases the band's signature virtuosity and epic song structures, it also suffers from bloated songwriting and a lack of high-octane energy. The album's longest track, "Without You," is a self-pastiche of the band's magnum opus, "Angel of Salvation," but it fails to reach the same heights. The strongest track, "To the Last Breath," showcases the band's neoclassical prowess and chemistry between Syu and Sho, but the rest of the album is marred by cheesy keyboards and lethargic pacing. Despite its flaws, the album is still a solid addition to the band's catalog, with a few standout tracks and a moving ballad. Overall, it's a solid 6/10.
